Analysis of Incidence of Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Hypertensive Renal Disease in Hypertensive Patients

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and cerebrovascular disease is the most common cardiovascular disease in Korea. The most important risk factor in the development of cerebrovascular disease is hypertension. The keypoint in the
treatment of hypertensive patients is to find and control risk factors as well as to control high blood pressure, If there are any target organ manifestations in hypertensive patients, the risk is increased several folds and more careful
management is
required. A total of 293(148 male and 145 female) hypertensive patients were examined in order to analyze the incidence of risk factors. LVH and hypertensive renal manifestations. The incidence of high risk patients by serum total cholesterol
level
and
LDL cholesterol level were 29.1% and 19.1%, respectively. Patients' smoking rate was 21.5%. The incidence of patients whose serum HDL-cholesterol level is lower than 35mg/dl was 17.1%, that of obese patients whose relative weight is above 130%
was
137%
and that of DM was 4.1%. The incidence of LVH on EKG was 14.0% and that of hypertensive renal disease was 9.8%. I concluded that the physician's concern and efforts are important to identify cardiovascular risk factors and symptomless target
organ
manifestations(LVH, renal manifestation etc.) in the evaluation and treatment of hypertensive patients.
